Emotionally Focused Therapy Supervision:
Support for EFCT, EFFT and/or EFIT
If you are interested in expert consultation in Emotionally Focused Therapy, or are working towards ICEEFT Certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy in any of its modalities, I am an ICEEFT Certified Emotionally Focused Therapy Supervisor for EFCT, EFFT and EFIT. EFT is a challenging, integrated model of therapy to learn and master, and supervision is an essential experience in becoming a better EFT therapist independent of your desire to earn certification or not. I have been fortunate to have experienced (and continue to experience!) high quality EFT supervision, and I am happy to pay it forward to other learners of EFT. No matter your level of experience with EFT, I would be glad to accompany and support you in your growth.
I offer EFT supervision both in-office and on-line in individual and group formats. For online services, your computer must be able to run Zoom Conference software, have a functioning web camera and microphone, and a high-speed internet connection to participate in online supervision. In order to show clips of recorded work online, you will need to use a Mac or PC with local hard drive storage (not a smart phone, tablet, or Chrome OS device).
Fees are as follows:
Group Supervision costs $50 per person per hour, minimum of 5 people (lower than 4 members and my individual fee is split among 2 or 3 participants)
Individual Supervision costs $250 per 55 minutes (reduced fee options available)

What to Expect From EFT Supervision
So, what can you expect in supervision?:
For supervision sessions to count towards ICEEFT Certification, "countable" sessions must include review of the therapist's recorded work with couples (EFCT), families (EFFT) or individuals (EFIT). Viewing recorded work gives supervisees and supervisors the best window into the process of the sessions and the therapist's work, and allows maximum potential for growth in supervision. This also allows the supervisor to evaluate readiness for Certification in EFCT, EFFT and/or EFIT. Sessions without video review are not counted towards "A" or "C" level ICEEFT designation.
While the EFT consultation/supervision process does have a technical and intellectual element that is explicit (i.e. what interventions to do, when to do them, for whom and how), we attend to the whole experience of the therapist in session and more broadly. This attuning approach to mentoring and monitoring is explicitly intended to decrease the anxiety and potential shame often experienced by therapists in supervision and in their therapy, and increase safety and deep learning needed to integrate attachment-based, systemic & experiential approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy. In essence, supervision is about your sense of accompaniment, safety and support, and offers you the opportunity for growth beyond theoretical conceptualization and technical skills. It is a "whole therapist" growth and learning support process!
- Warm & Safe Alliance and Attunement: We are always concerned first and foremost with how we work relationally with EFT supervisees, insuring their emotional safety the supervision process, and to model how EFT Practitioners build, maintain and repair attuned therapeutic alliances with clients so that supervisees can provide the same safety with their clients.
- Conceptualization from an EFT frame: We help supervisees with the acquisition and understanding of EFT theory and knowledge about the problems our clients experience and the antidotes that the EFT process offers. This includes review and integration of materials from EFT training including Attachment Theory, Emotion Theory, Experiential Theory, and Systemic Theory.
- Experiential and Systemic Technical Skills Learning and Application: We focus on how to "build muscle memory" through in-vivo practical application of experiential and systemic therapy intervention skills in supervision sessions. Some times this happens in a spontaneous conversation, and some times through explicit role play of client-therapist. I also integrate evidence-based Deliberate Practice exercises in for solitary, home practice.
- Self-of-Therapist Growth Support: We want to support supervisees in understanding how their own emotional experiences operate in the work in ways that both help and hinder effectiveness, and how to work authentically and with integrity. This can mean identifying therapist emotional blocks to fully utilizing skills and concepts, working together to resolve those blocks, and/or identifying resources for the therapist's ongoing support and growth.

*"EFT Supervision" is not supervision towards or for a professional mental health/psychotherapy license in any state or territory. All EFT supervisees/consultees are required to hold a full license to practice psychotherapy in their state or territorial location of practice, or to hold an associate/provisional-level license and simultaneously meet legal requirements for professional license supervision in their location of practice. Hiring me as an EFT Supervisor or consultant does not contract me as a supervisor for professional licensure.
